Volker Hoven was running for mayor in the German town of Sprockhövel, located in the southern Ruhr district. His innovative campaign was the first of its kind in the small town. Accompanied by a professional communications agency – Michael Tobias Content Marketing (MTCM) – he created an element of surprise with his early nomination, supported by three political parties: SPD, FDP as well as WfS. His website and the links to social media channels such as facebook, YouTube and Instagram were important cornerstones of the campaign. The website offered news and backgrounders about the candidate, his values and his aims. It presented important political issues as well as professional images and films. It covered events attended by the candidate and thus serveed as a hub of information for voters in Sprockhövel.

MTCM’s task

MTCM developed the idea and concept for the page and worked in close cooperation with Volker Hoven and his supporters to create the content. MTCM also produced the professional photos and developed the candidate’s logo. The team will maintain and update the page throughout his campaign, which will run until September 2020.
